  6. Aeros, in a new league called the World 
  7. Hockey Association (WHA). Amazingly, 
  8. Gordie scored within one minute of the start
  9. of his first game back.

  11. Gordie stayed with the Aeros until the 
  12. beginning of the 1977-78 season, when he 
  13. went to the New England Whalers. The WHA 
  14. merged with the NHL in 1979, and the New 
  15. England Whalers became the Hartford 
  16. Whalers. Once again, Gordie was playing in 
  17. the NHL. In the 1979-80 season, Gordie 
  18. played in all 80 regular-season games 
  19. and then called it quits -- for good.
